This metric can be a useful indicator of the email's relevance and value to the recipients, as well as the potential for viral growth. Forward rate is a good metric to understand the virality of the content and the people engagement, this metric is also used to know the effectiveness of the subject line, the design and the content of the email. It can also indicate if the call-to-action is clear and well placed. As with other metrics, forward rate should be used in conjunction with other data points to gain a comprehensive understanding of email campaign performance. |
How to Calculate: |
The forward rate can be calculated by dividing the number of Times the Email was Forwarded (TF) by the Total Number of Sent Emails (TE) and multiply by 100. |
For example, if an email campaign was sent to 1000 recipients and 50 of them forwarded the email, the forward rate would be 5% (50/1000 * 100). |
